Fun with tiltshiftmaker.com
Tilt-shift photography is seeing a surge of popularity in recent months on the inter-webs. The technique allows the photographer to control how perspective lines appear as well as providing another means to control depth of field. It is often used in architectural and landscape photography, but it is its use to create fake miniatures, for both photos and videos, which has sparked a lot of interest on the net. For an example, take a look at this video of a monster truck rally.

It is possible to use digitally manipulate photos to fake the tilt-shift effect and tiltshiftmaker.com provides a service to do just that for any photo you care to upload. I took a quick stab at it and produced the following fake miniature of an intersection near my house during the recent snow storm in Seattle:
